ELIYANA
ELIYANA, is one of the Luvan goddesses of Bronze Age Anatolia. The Luwian “ali(ya-)” denotes an element such as a lake or a river, which essentially contains “water”. For this reason, she is equated with the Hellenic nymph. The sacred water source at Letoon must have been her “home”. The statues of young girls known as “Nereids” that adorn the famous temple tomb of Xanthos also represent Elianas.
